Disney World Fantasmic Disappointment

Disney World Keeping Fantasmic Show Closing Details a Secret.
Disney World Florida can’t seem to decide what it’s going to do with its Hollywood Studios Fantasmic night show. First they almost double its showing times, and then they drop shows all together!
Though the show is a fan favorite, it seems to be one of Disney’s better kept secrets as not all visiting park guests even know to look out for show times. Fantasmic at Disney World Hollywood Studios in Florida combines fireworks, live actors, water effects, fire, music, boats, and projection technology into one captivating show.
Things looked good for Fantasmic this summer when Disney extended showings to seven nights of week starting July 3rd and continuing through September 30th, but as of January 4th 2012 there are no show times scheduled for Fanasmic. Though supposedly it should be returning in February of 2012. No formal announcement has been made about why the show is closing for 5 weeks.
Looking at the larger picture, it could be speculated that 2012 is going to be a huge year for the Orlando, Florida theme parks. Disney starts opening some of the new Fantasyland expansion attractions in late 2012. Universal Studios will be opening Despicable Me and the upgraded Amazing Spiderman Adventure rides on an unspecified date in 2012 as well. Maybe Disney is planning on upgrading Fantasmics effects to mimic those of the newly opened World of Color at Disneyland in California?
One thing is for sure, it is impossible for Disney World (who has to keep updated long term calendars accessible for incoming guests to plan their vacations) to keep a secret for long. Updates will be posted as they come in.
