Disney World in Orlando, Florida has instituted some surprising changes. Don't be caught off-guard.
Monorail Schedules Cut Short – Whether you have Extra Magic Hours access or not, monorails are stopping one hour after regular park closing. This is already in effect for Epcot, but will also start at Magic Kingdom on August 1st 2011. Buses will be provided for hotels with monorail service or there is always the boat. The monorails are in need of maintenance, and the shorter schedule will give engineers time to work on them. This is not emergency maintenance, Disney officials have made it clear that this has been scheduled. No word yet on when they will return to extended hours.
Not so Unlimited Refillable Drinks – Each Disney Resort offers a mug that can be bought for a one time fee and can be used for unlimited refills of soda in the hotel’s food court for the duration of the guest’s vacation. Disney is now testing technology on the mugs from All Star Sports Resort that will only allow a mug to be filled for one minute every five minutes. These mugs will also only be able to be used for a certain length a time so that they are not able to be brought back on next year’s vacation and used again. Rumor has it that these RFID chipped mugs will be making its way to one of the theme parks for a trail as well, no confirmation yet though.
