In late 2009 Disney announced that they would be downsizing Miramax Films, fast-forward to early 2010, Miramax will be shut down completely.
The studio will be closing the New York and Los Angeles offices of Miramax Films and 80 people will lose their jobs. Six Miramax movies are awaiting distribution.
The company was founded in 1979 and acquired by Disney in 1993. The original founders of Miramax left the company in 2005 to found The Weinstein Company.
