SeaWorld Orlando Saves Sea Turtles

Thank goodness Florida is starting to warm up again, the wildlife (and general human population) can't handle the cold!

Hundreds of sea turtles had to be rescued and sent to SeaWorld Orlando's Rescue and Rehabilitation Center over the past week or so. When sea turtles get too cold they develop "cold stun" which makes the turtles lethargic and they will then float to the surface of the water. The cold can also cause infections in the turtles.
SeaWorld Sea Turtle Rescue Program has now saved more that one thousand turtles since 1980.

All rescued turtles receive a physical exam and then are warmed up with heat lamps and blanketed. They are also given warm fluids to help warm up their internal temperature. When the weather and water warm up and the turtles are given a clean bill of health they will be released back into Florida waters.
