Rich Ross Turning Down Disney Movies People Actually Want to See

Rich Ross has taken over Walt Disney Pictures after being promoted from overseeing the Disney Channel. He has now turned down a third movie that follows clearly in the path of the the "Disney Method" meaning they are a family film with a clear moral.

In the last month he has turned down:

Wild Hogs 2 -

Starring Tim Allen, John Travolta, and Martin Lawrence.

The sequel to Wild Hogs was to be based around Dudleys decision to ride his bicycle all the way from Philadelphia to Ocean City, NJ to save Maggie from a group of angry Del Fuegos. Knowing Dudley couldn't possibly save Maggie alone, he recieves the suprise company of a couple of old friends, Bobby and Doug. When none of the Hogs can get in touch with Woody to see if hes willing to Ride or Die, they decide to call in a favor to the one guy who knows all of the Del Fuegos little tricks, Damien Blade. After seeing what can happen when citizens band together, the Hogs also gain the support of the local citizens of Ocean City who are none to pleased with the Del Fuegos antics.

Wedding Banned

Starring Robin Williams and Diane Keaton

The movie was going to be about a divorced couple who kidnap their daughter on her wedding day in order to prevent her from making the same mistakes they did, of course falling in love again in the process.

Captain Nemo: 20,000 leagues Under the Sea

McG would have been the director (Terminator Salvation.) The script was penned by Bill Marsilii (Deja Vu) and Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li) is was getting a rewrite from Randall Wallace (Braveheart.)

The story would have been based on the original 1954 movie and run through Captain Nemo's early years, as he builds the Nautilus (his sub) and finds a reason to attack British warships.

Ok so maybe the only real disappointment was the Wedding Banned movie not going into production, the rest I could have done without. Still I am surprised at the initiative Rich Ross has taken in changing how Disney does movies. I must add though, the newest movie announcement about the book Fallen being turned into a Disney movie, leaves me even less thrilled.
