D Street Store to Open in Down Town Disney Florida This Spring

D Street is a store that is like Hot Topic for Disney Merchandise. They even sell Vinylmation figurines. Geared towards older teens and young men, about 60 percent of the products are for boys and men.

Key products include:

• The Block 28 product line of clothes, jewelry, guitars and skate decks is inspired by underground art. Disney found pieces, mostly interpretations Mickey Mouse, made by street artists and created products around them. Block 28 was launched about two years ago.
  
• A new modern line of women's clothes and jewelry, called the Art of Disney Princess, was manufactured for the first time for this store. The line is a female spin-off of Block 28, something to give female shoppers an alternative Disney look, Murray said. Disney hired artists to re-imagine Disney princesses and then built products around their paintings and drawings.
  
• Pop culture related products include a wall of Star Wars merchandise, in addition to rock-band and movie T-shirts.
  
• Other designer brands, including Ed Hardy and Harajuku Lovers, are featured on a back wall.
  
• Paintings of Mickey Mouse and Star Wars characters are also available for around $300 to $450 each.

A D Street store officially opens at Disneyland on December 19th and was designed to have industrial-type space showcasing Disney-inspired art by local and underground artists, as well as other designer clothes, pop-culture novelties and collectibles. Can't wait for this to open in Disney World Florida! It is scheduled for Spring of 2010 but no official date has been released.
