Disney to Make Monorail Teal Out of Trains that Crashed This Summer

In the summer of 2009 both Monorail Pink and Monorail Purple crashed. There were several pieces that were salvageable and undamaged and those parts will be combined to build the new Monorail Teal. Disney said the colors pink and purple will be retired out of respect for employees involved in the fatal accident in the Disney World monorail's 38-year history.
The new train is expected to go into service later this fall and Disney has assured that the monorail will undergo the same "extensive" testing that any new train would go through to join the fleet and go into service.
Following the crash some major changes were made to the Disney transportation department. They still decline to comment on the specifics but we do know that there were major separations in how operations were run. Before the crash all monorail, boat, and bus transportation were overseen by one person, it has since been separated into three different positions. Kevin Lansberry was the vice president of transportation operations before the accident but is no longer, though he is still the vice president of Animal Kingdom. Supposedly these changes were planned before the accidents.
