The Q&A on
Facebook with Michael Roddy, manager of show development for Universal Orlando Entertainment just wrapped up a few minutes ago. The questions were asked by Facebook members and Mr. Roddy answered as many as he could in the time allowed to him.
For those of you that missed it here is a quick recap.
This Year's Event
Favorite Scarezone?
War of the living dead
In War of the living dead, will the zombies be fast or the traditional slow shuffle moving?
"New zombie soldiers who march to the beat of a flesh-eating drum"
In the concept art/logo for war of the living dead is shows a zombie with a flame thrower...is this actually going to be done?
"Yeeeeep"
Favorite Maze this year?
Wolfman
Will there be a transformation scene in the Wolfman maze?
Yes
House that fans should be most excited about?
Saw
What traps will be used in the Saw maze?
An assortment from movies 1-5
Will Chucky be played by Little People or kids?
"Chucky is real. What are you talking about?"
Can we expect to see Chuckie running through the park and in many different places?
"Chucky is living in his experience."
Why was it decided no to have an arrival show this year and what will happen at the front gate?
"We are always looking at the best way to introduce you to the event. Trust me when I say this year will be a spectacle." And "The experience will showcase the Usher and the many characters that have been Ripped from the Silver Screen"
Will the ripped characters at the front gate be projection/tv based or live action?
"A little of both"
When will the construction outside on the main entrance be finished?
Tomorrow 9/19
Will we see the motorcycles in the scarezones this year?
No
What rides will be open during HHN?
Mummy, Simpsons, MIB
Other than Strangers, Bloddy Valentine, and Psycho, what else will be shown at HorrorWood Scarezone?
"Zombies, Drag Me To Hell, and many more."
How has the economy affected the marketing and planning for this year's event, along with your creative budget for the event?
"We are very aware that people have a choice in this economy. We will make sure that HHN will meet the expectations of those who choose to come."
Future Halloween Horror Nights Events
Will the big three (Jason, Freddy, Leatherface) make a return at HHN's 20th anniversary?
Maybe
Will we ever see a "completely original" HHN including everything from the icon/theme/mazes/scarezones created purposely for that years event, or is that not wise from a marketing standpoint?
This was answered with a yes...whether it was a yes it's not smart or yes it will happen I'm not entirely sure.
Some other things that were mentioned were that he would love to have a permanent Halloween Horror Nights attraction. When asked about maybe using Stephen King material in a future event Roddy responded that he "loves Stephen King and his works", hopefully Stephen King's people were paying attention.
Fans were told they could expect many new innovations and technologies to be used at this years event, although he was tight lipped about what exactly they were. And HHN aficionados will be very happy to hear there are "many special gifts we have placed for the observant fans and friends of HHN"
