Busch Gardens Tampa, Florida announced that a new area dedicated to Australian animals will open Monday. Walkabout Way features kangaroos and wallabies and you'll have the chance to pet and feed them, too!
The new area is located in the park's Bird Gardens. There, you'll meander down a sidewalk with kangaroos on either side of you behind a wooden fence, and wallabies potentially hopping right along your pathway.
Throughout the day, you can also hand-feed the animals. There will be scheduled feedings a few times each day. For $5, you get a cup of food and can have the animals feeding right out of your hand. But note, the area is for ages 5 and older.
In addition to the roos and wallabies, Walkabout Way will also include other Australian species, including magpie geese and Australian black swans. There's also the Kookaburra's Nest, a free-flight aviary in Walkabout Way that will feature -- what else --kookaburras!
An education station there offers up-close encounters with the park's animal ambassadors, ranging from Australian parrots, a tawny frogmouth, cockatoos, among other exotic animals that share an important message of conservation.
Walkabout Way is included in park admission, and expands the array of animal encounters Busch Gardens offers.

Exploring the Serengeti Plain or checking out the world's best roller coasters from the comfort of your home computer just became a reality. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and its waterpark, Adventure Island, are now featured in Street View on Google Maps.

Virtual visits are now available to all 10 SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment locations, including the SeaWorld parks in Orlando, San Antonio and San Diego; Discovery Cove, Aquatica, Busch Gardens and Water Country USA, and Sesame Place.
In Tampa, nearly every inch of Busch Gardens was mapped using one of Google's "Trikes." A state-of-the-art camera automatically gathered photographs from the back of a modified bicycle. Google software then blended the images, creating the famous, interactive and completely moveable 360-degree scenes Street View is known for.
And the best way to make sure every show, splash, adventure and world-class thrill ride was mapped? The 250-pound Trike, complete with camera and GPS mounted on a mast, was pedal-powered by a Google staff member. Consider it the ultimate mix of technology, both high and low.
Google Maps began including Street View images in 2007. More than a dozen countries and over one hundred cities now can be seen online.
Street View visits to the parks are accessible via Web and mobile applications. Viewers can start by going to maps.google.com and searching for Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Then drag the orange "Pegman" icon (found at the top left of the map) for a "walking tour." Among the highlights - also seen in "satellite mode" - Busch Gardens visitors can look for America's first dive coaster, SheiKra.

Merlin Entertainment (who owns Legoland) bought Cypress Gardens Theme Park. Now their future plans are going public.
Though Merlin Entertainments Group hasn't yet publicly revealed its plans for the venerable Polk County attraction, which it purchased earlier this month, an email sent yesterday from a Polk tourism official to local elected officials indicates that the company plans to make Cypress Gardens its second Legoland in the U.S.
"Legoland Florida will be the fifth Legoland attraction worldwide," Mark Jackson, director with sports marketing Central Florida Tourism & Sports Marketing, writes in the email.
"Merlin's massive research in the area already indicated that the Legoland brand already has high recognition and a 90 percent intention to visit by families in their target market," Jackson added.
The existence of the email was first reported by the Lakeland Ledger.
Merlin, which owns Legoland, has scheduled a news conference for tomorrow morning to discuss its plans for Cypress Gardens
