On April 30th 2010 McDonalds in Downtown Disney Orlando will be closed for good.
"Our alliance partners are ever-changing and this shift in our relationship with McDonald's reflects the dynamic nature of the sponsorship business,"
-Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez
Current employees at the Downtown Disney McDonalds location were offered transfers to other locations and that no one would lose their job as a result of the closure. Hopefully some of them will be transfered to the McDonalds at the entrance of Disney's Animal Kingdom. For now, that location will remain open.
Pollo Campero will be replacing it. This will be a Latin chicken fast-food chain. Expect family-style Latin dining, healthy additions will be added to the Disney menu such as vegetarian, gluten-free, sugar-free, low-sodium or organic foods.

Finally some answers about what Disney buying Marvel will do to Universal Studios! Surprisingly it is not the theme park that comes up with the short end of the stick, it's the park guests.
Universal's Islands of Adventure has an entire section of the park dedicated to Marvel heroes and villains, one of the biggest questions after Disney bought Marvel was "What happens to Islands of Adventure?" The answer is an unlikely bond between rivals Disney and Universal Studios and possible antitrust complaints against them both.
Unfortunately for Universal Studios, Disney is now in charge of the contract that secured the Marvel characters in the Islands of Adventure theme park in the first place. Disney now has the right to look into all of Universal's legal and financial paperwork as well as promotional material pertaining to any of the Marvel characters. As bad as that sounds it's actually no so, this leaves a line of communication open for Disney and Universal Studios to attempt price-fixing anything and everything from on site hotels, ticket prices, discounts, etc.
In an attempt to ease these fears, Disney and Universal have signed an agreement saying that they will not share any confidential information with each other.
Read more of the legal details here.

Last week Disney shut down Miramax Film offices and sent most employees packing, folding the 20 or so remaining people back into the Walt Disney Studios. Now Disney plans to sell what is left of the production company.
The New York Times reports there are about 10 interested in buying Miramax. One of the most surprising names to show up on this list of potential buyers is Summit Entertainment who's largest success was the Twilight saga. The price tag starts at about $700 million and the sale would include the Miramax name and a 700-film library - Kill Bill, The English Patient, Pulp Fiction, and Chicago to name a few.
