We're celebrating at Disney Parks today...the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" program has officially reached its goal. That's right, one million of you have been inspired to give back to your communities through volunteer service in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada since Disney Parks launched this first-of-its-kind program on January 1.
During the last 10 weeks, a million people have volunteered or committed to volunteer in their communities. And to celebrate these efforts, Disney Parks has offered each volunteer who completed an eligible project a free one-day admission to one theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort.
Although the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" program has ended and guests may no longer register and sign up for projects to earn a free Disney theme park ticket, the need for volunteers is ongoing. You can still continue the good work by volunteering through HandsOn Network at http://HandsOnNetwork.org.

A facsimile of the Hogwarts Express train will stand near the entrance of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter land at Islands of Adventure. While the life-size locomotive will billow steam, it will remain a stationary prop (although a ride aboard the train to Hogsmeade would be a cool feature).

Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said that 600,000 of the slated 1 million free Disney park tickets were already spoken for.
And the HandsOn Network, which has partnered with Disney to match volunteers with volunteer opportunities, has sent an email to organization coordinators saying that it expects the program to end "very soon."
Disney has stated that "Only volunteers who have completed the registration and signed up for a specific date and time to volunteer before the program ends will get their vouchers for a Disney theme park ticket once their service has been verified."

Downtown Disney will be welcoming several new additions to its storefronts, including a restaurant, retail and merchandise stores, and upgrades to the AMC Pleasure Island 24 theater.
The new additions include:
• Enhanced theater experience technology at the AMC theater, which includes a floor-to-ceiling screen, 3-D technology and upgrades to sound and visual technology that can deliver HD experiences. The theater expects to debut the new technology in one of its auditoriums by March 5, coinciding with the premier of Walt Disney Pictures' Alice in Wonderland.
• Ridemakerz, a new retail entertainment experience that allows guests to custom design radio-controlled cars. Ridemakerz is expected to be open from March through this fall. The retail attraction already has a location at Downtown Disney in California.
• D Street, an apparel store melding urban-inspired clothing and accessories with the Disney brand. The store will open in April.
• Pollo Campero, an international Latin chicken quick-service restaurant, which will open in the fall.

Expect the parade and the new fireworks at the Magic Kingdom beginning June 6th 2010. The current end date is set for Aug. 14th 2010 but is subject to change.
